New China and Vietnam land-sea trade route opens

The launch of this route represents Chongqing's further expansion into GMS international road transport, injecting new momentum into efficient cross-border logistics between China and Vietnam and improving customs clearance efficiency by around 30 percent, the logistics base said.

The southwestern municipality serves as the logistics and operations center for the ILSTC. Since the launch of the Western China New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor cross-border highway service in 2016, it has developed a network targeting ASEAN, Central Asia, and South Asia, covering 12 countries and 15 provincial-level regions across China.

The routes support the trade of 14 categories and 580 types of products, including machinery, automotive and motorcycle parts, and electronics. To date, it has completed over 31,000 vehicle trips, with a total cargo value exceeding 24.5 billion yuan ($3.41 billion). From January to July this year, 8,921 vehicle trips were conducted, transporting goods valued at about 10.3 billion yuan.
