Douyin gala blends music and heart

A Journey With You Classic Song Gala, a new online show series, is set to premiere on Oct 16 on the popular social media platform, Douyin.

As Douyin's first show focused on spreading Chinese classic pop music culture, the series aims to create a connection with audiences by combining nostalgic songs with a mission of charitable support, according to the show's producer, Zhao Liang.

The show will stream live every Thursday on Douyin, featuring some of China's most iconic pop singers. The lineup includes Zhou Yanhong, Huang Gexuan, Wang Jieshi and Zheng Xulan.

A standout feature of the program is its focus on philanthropy. Silent Choir — a group of children with hearing impairment — will perform in the shows.

The shows will donate a part of the proceeds from the live streams to the choir. These funds will go toward supporting the choir's arts education and future development.

As the program prepares for its launch, Zao says it promises to offer more than just a musical feast — it will be a weekly reminder of the power of music, community, and compassion, uniting both fans and artists in a shared journey of nostalgia and giving back.
