Central delegation continues to visit officials, residents in multiple areas of Xinjiang
URUMQI -- Members of a central delegation on Friday continued to visit local officials and residents in multiple areas of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and head of the central delegation, led a group of delegation members to the XPCC-administered cities of Tiemenguan and Beitun.
Wang said the XPCC has made important contributions to promoting social stability and long-term tranquility in Xinjiang, calling on the corps to faithfully fulfill its duties and missions in the new era, deepen the integrated development of the corps and the region, and build new advantages for the corps in safeguarding stability and protecting the border.
Other groups of the delegation made separate visits to the Kashgar prefecture, the Mongolian autonomous prefecture of Bortala, the Kazak autonomous prefecture of Ili, and cities including Urumqi and Karamay.
