Domestic tourism sees a boom during holiday period

The domestic tourism market witnessed a boom during the just concluded National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on Thursday.
This year's holiday lasted eight days — from Oct 1 to Wednesday, with the traditional moon-appreciating Mid-Autumn Festival overlapping with the National Day holiday. Figures given by the ministry show that domestic tourism destinations and attractions received about 888 million visits during the eight days, and these tourism trips generated spending of about 809 billion yuan ($114 billion).
The National Day holiday was seven days in 2024, with domestic destinations receiving about 765 million visits and generating a tourism spend of 700.8 billion yuan.
