Beijing Marathon route optimized to enhance running experience
BEIJING -- Beijing Marathon organizers introduced an upgraded route design on Friday, aiming to provide a better experience for runners.
The Beijing Marathon, spanning from Tian'anmen Square to the Beijing Olympic Park, remains a favorite for runners worldwide, whose finish line is at the avenue between the National Stadium "Bird's Nest" and the National Aquatics Center "Water Cube".
The organizers further optimized the route design this year to reduce narrow sections and add the roads near the Beijing Olympic Forest Park and the National Speed Skating Oval, a 2022 Winter Olympic venue known as the "Ice Ribbon".
"The new route can solve the congestion problem in narrow sections which occurred previously in the Beijing Marathon. The newly added elements such as the 'Ice Ribbon' can lead runners to feel the charm of the dual Olympic city," said runner Liang Yu, who will embrace his 12th Beijing Marathon this year.
2025 Beijing Marathon will start at 7:30 am on November 2, with a record of 32,000 participants.
