University licenses smart fish feeding system for 20 million
According to the university, the system has been under development for a decade with support from national and provincial research programs. It brings together work in biology, computing, and control technologies.
The developers say the platform combines sensor data, predictive models, and management tools to lower feed use and operating costs for aquaculture operators.
Sheng Ya Environment said it plans to begin industrial production this year and build an international sales network within two years. The company said it would work with the research team to advance the system and broaden its market application.
A representative of early users said the system reduced the feed conversion ratio by 10 to 15 percent and cut labor inputs by about 70 percent, which they said lifted overall efficiency by up to 20 percent.
