BBC, when will you apologize to China?
BBC, don't just bow to Trump. When will you deliver the apology you owe China?
US President Donald Trump is suing the BBC for up to $5 billion after it edited a key portion of his Jan 6, 2021 speech. But when it comes to China, the BBC's debts go far beyond a 12-second edit. Let's be clear about this.
From promoting debunked claims of "forced sterilization" and "forced labor" in Xinjiang, intentionally mislabeling an anti-terror drill as a "draconian" COVID response in the documentary about Wuhan, to glorifying rioters while demonizing officers trying to restore order in Hong Kong, the BBC has fabricated one narrative after another.
When the BBC targets China, "misleading" becomes "Western interpretation". "Defamation" becomes "free speech". The BBC has never been an objective news agency, but a hired gun for capital and politics. It's time for everyone harmed by the BBC's fabrications to do what Trump is doing — use the law to defend their rights.
