Xi chairs CPC meeting to review report on central discipline inspections

BEIJING -- The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee convened a meeting on Nov. 28 to review a comprehensive report on the 20th CPC Central Committee's disciplinary inspection missions focusing on provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government. General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping chaired the meeting.

It was noted at the meeting that the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core attached great importance to disciplinary inspection work and carried out the fifth and sixth rounds of inspections covering all provincial-level regions. The inspections found that despite new progress and results in their work, there were various problems that provincial-level authorities should attach high political priority to and address in a serious and earnest manner. They should take up hammers and crack the tough nuts in taking rectification measures, fulfill their primary responsibilities, and intensify routine oversight. The meeting called for combining the rectification work with studying and implementing the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and with the planning for economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), leveraging the rectification work to exercise full and rigorous Party self-governance, purify the political ecosystem and strengthen leadership teams, and promoting high-quality development through effective rectification.

It was stressed at the meeting that the CPC provincial, autonomous regional, and municipal committees must further their efforts to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, profoundly grasp the strategic positioning of their respective regions designated by the CPC Central Committee, consistently implement the CPC Central Committee's major decisions and plans, and take concrete actions to uphold Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and uphold the CPC Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership. The Party committees should have a correct understanding of what it means to perform well, fully and faithfully implement the new development philosophy on all fronts, improve the system for assessing the performance of officials, and take a realistic and pragmatic approach while working in a down-to-earth manner. They must stay committed to advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance, earnestly fulfill the political responsibility for governance over the Party, intensify oversight over top officials, consolidate and expand the outcomes achieved during the education campaign on thoroughly implementing the CPC Central Committee's eight-point decision on improving work conduct, enhance the regulation and oversight over the allocation and exercise of power, maintain tough actions against corruption, eradicate breeding grounds and conditions for corruption, and foster a healthy political environment of integrity. The Party committees should strengthen leadership teams and the contingent of officials, improve and implement democratic centralism, adhere to sound criteria for official appointments, and guide and motivate officials to work hard and take on responsibility. They must always keep in mind their duties, effectively guard against and defuse all risks, and improve the social governance system. The Party committees must put into good use of the outcomes of the disciplinary inspections, conduct in-depth research on common problems exposed in the inspections and solve them, strive to deepen reform, and tackle not only symptoms but also root causes.
