Beijing unveils 52 scenic greenways to boost leisure and wellness
Beijing launched a series of leisure trail networks on Jan 1, introducing 52 carefully curated routes that span all of its districts.
The initiative, inaugurated at Baifuquan Park Greenway in Changping district, marks a significant step in integrating the capital's tourism, culture, agriculture, forestry, and water landscapes into a cohesive leisure system.
Developed through collaboration between the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and departments overseeing landscaping, water resources, sports, and rural affairs, the greenways are designed to enhance urban leisure and promote healthy lifestyles.
Each route is equipped with essential amenities, making them ideal for walking, running, cycling, family outings, and cultural exploration.
To improve accessibility, an online portal has been set up on platforms including Meituan, Qunar, and Weibo, where visitors can find guides, nearby facilities, and register for events.
Future efforts will focus on upgrading greenway services and diversifying recreational offerings, aiming to position these leisure corridors as top routes for exploring the capital city and as new drivers for cultural and tourism consumption, local authorities say.
