Gionee launches 'world's best performance' clamshell phone

According to the Gionee, currently the company's products are available in more than 40 countries and step into 8 nation's mobile carriers' distribution systems, with exports reaching more than 30 million units in the global market in 2015.

"We hope to accomplish an annual sales target that reaches 45 million units in 2016," said Liu. "One third of the volume will come from overseas market."

Liu believed that India will surpass China to become the world's top one smartphone market in the coming ten years. "There are around 1 billion local residents under 30 years old. The market potential remains huge and we're keen on expanding in a market like India," said Liu.

Since 2011, the Gionee brand has been moving rapidly to expand its presence in Taiwan and overseas market like India, Nigeria, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand and Philippines.

The company became the original design manufacturer of India's then largest handset brand, Micromax, in 2007.

In October 2015, Gionee's new lifestyle F Series F103 was launched as the first Made in India phone in Sri City, India.

"We have over 20,000 retail points in India. By the end of the year we want this number to reach 50,000 and then we want to grow it to 100,000," William Lu, president of Gionee India told Indian local media during the MWC.
