In the first half this year, the national logistics sector reported a total revenue of 33.8 trillion yuan (US$4.46 trillion), up 25.6 percent year-on-year, according to statistics published by the National Development and Reform Commission yesterday.

Logistics turnover of industrial products reached a total of 29.8 trillion yuan, up 27.4 percent compared with a year before and contributing 88.1 percent of the total business turnover, 1.2 percentage points higher than the same time last year.

At the same time, imported goods logistics valued 3.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.6 percent year-on-year and accounting for 9.9 percent of the total logistics sector.

In the first six months, logistics of agricultural products, reproducible resources, and office and consumer goods grew 14.3 percent, 17.5 percent and 11.5 percent respectively compared with a year before.

In terms of added value, the logistics industry realized 750.3 billion yuan between January and June this year, rising 17.2 percent year-on-year, 0.5 percentage points higher than in the first quarter.

The total added-value in the logistics industry accounted for 17.9 percent of the entire service industry, 0.1 percentage point more than in the same period of last year.

Furthermore, overall costs in the logistics industry amounted to 1.95 trillion yuan in the first half year, up 16.2 percent year-on-year, 0.9 percentage points higher than in this first quarter, and 1.4 percentage points higher compared with that in the same period of last year.

Investment in fixed logistics assets totaled 521.5 billion yuan, with a 20.7 percent rise year-on-year.
