China to issue 1st half GDP data on Thursday

Updated: 2008-07-15 11:48 China will issue its first-half gross domestic product (GDP) data at 10 am on Thursday, the Beijing International Media Center said on its Web site. In a statement dated Monday, the center said National Bureau of Statistics spokesman Li Xiaochao will hold a press briefing on the economic data. China's GDP is estimated to have risen 10.3 percent in the second quarter from the same period last year, according to the median forecast in a Dow Jones Newswires survey of 11 economists, slower than the first quarter's 10.6-percent growth. The bureau will also issue other economic data, such as the consumer and producer price indices, at the briefing. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
