Chinese shares close higher on Tuesday

BEIJING - Chinese equities closed higher on Tuesday as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 1.79 percent, or 51.20 points, to close at 2,904.12 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 2.51 percent, or 314.90 points, to close at 12,872.45 points. Combined turnover shrank to 259.64 billion yuan ($38.8 billion), from 280.01 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
