8 overseas banks OKed to buy mainland bonds

The following eight banks were given permission on Monday to invest in the onshore interbank market using offshore yuan funds:

-- Agricultural Bank of China Hong Kong branch

-- China Construction Bank Corp Hong Kong branch

-- Citibank Hong Kong branch

-- Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Hong Kong branch

-- Nanyang Commercial Bank

-- Wing Lung Bank

-- Wing Hang Bank

-- Chiyu Bank

The following were given such permission in January:

-- Bank of Communications Hong Kong branch

-- Hang Seng Bank Ltd

-- CITIC Bank International Ltd

-- China Construction Bank (Asia) Co Ltd

-- Bank of East Asia Ltd

-- Deutsche Bank Hong Kong branch

-- DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Co Ltd
