          Microblog insights

Topic 1: According to EntGroup Inc, a Beijing-based entertainment-industry consulting company, Zhang Yimou's film The Flowers of War, starring the British actor Christian Bale, had taken in 152.1 million yuan ($24 million) in box-office receipts by Dec 18, the fourth day since its release. That was 10 million yuan more than Hark Tsui's Flying Swords of Dragon Gate 3D. Even so, either film still has a long way to go before it can be deemed the top earner of box-office revenue.

GEMINIJIAMIN: Zhang Yimou has grabbed 152.1 million yuan in just four days! I think his target for generating 1 billion yuan at the box office is a bit conservative.

SILENTLAMB: I think a lot of the credit for The Flowers of War bringing in so much box-office revenue belongs to Christian Bale, the lead actor of the film.

XIEZUOXIEYOU: In my opinion, both of these films are excellent.

SAMOYED'S TAIL: The box office is like PM 2.5 (a measure of small particles), and I doubt its accuracy.

          Microblog insights

Topic 2: Recently visiting East China's Jiangsu province, Premier Wen Jiabao said the co-existence of slower economic growth and high prices adds to the difficulty of controlling the economy on a macro-level. He also said the Chinese economy is faced with a series of difficulties - declining exports, shrinking profits from manufacturing and a combination of weak external demand and rising costs.

LUCY_490502: I think the price of commodities is quite likely to rise continuously, and people's purchasing power is become weaker and weaker.

JASMINE3039: What about learning from Singapore. Why does the country buy so much US debt? We could put this large amount of money to many purposes in China, such as spending it on infrastructure construction, public works and education.

JACKDZJ: Stagflation beats the hell out of the employment rate; it's not good at all.

CHATWHILESEATED: Let the market regulate itself then.
