How do you spend your weekends?

With a four-year-old bundle of energy at home, our weekends are pretty packed with kids' events, birthday parties, play dates and the like. If we are lucky, my wife and I can muster the energy to have dinner with friends at a new place in town and maybe take in a movie or a concert.

What are your hobbies?

Sadly, my two favorite hobbies - flying, I am a certified pilot in the US, and diving, I am a Rescue Diver - are not readily available in China.

What is the saying that you like the most? Why?

The Golden Rule: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. To me this sums up civility and right-action in both business and personal matters.

Who is your icon?

Well, I did just see the Rolling Stones in concert in Shanghai, so right now Mick Jagger is looking pretty incredible to me, regardless of his age.

What is the book you are reading now?

Just finishing On China by Henry Kissinger. I try to alternate a China-related title with a non-China-related title, ideally a novel.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I'm pretty amazed by what the Coach team in China has been able to achieve in such a short period of time. It's really an amazing experience when a group of individuals comes together to execute a plan so well.

Where did you acquire most of your business knowledge or sense?

I've been fortunate enough to have worked with some pretty amazing people over the past 20 years, some mentors and some peers, and I've gleaned a lot of learning from watching them operate.

What do you value most in your friends?

Loyalty. A good friend is someone who will always be there for you no matter what.

Please give three words to describe your impression of Chinese businessmen.

Aggressive in a positive way that is, similar to active, risk-taking, tactical.
