Jennifer Lopez's boyfriend defends age gap

Jennifer Lopez's boyfriend has defended their age gap on twitter.

Casper Smart, 24, has been dating the 'On the Floor' singer in the wake of her split from Marc Anthony but in a series of tweets appears to have hit back at criticism that the 42-year-old star is too old for him.

He wrote: "Age, status, n opinions of others are irrelevant. Our hearts are endless and our souls infinite........... To be continued

"Our ages are mere reminders of the hours logged on this earth and the precious time remaining......... To be continued

"We should all honor our time here by indulging our passion and dreams. So, close your ears and open your hearts; Love and be happy! (sic)."

Jennifer - who has three-year-old twins Max and Emme with former spouse Marc - then retweeted his comments.

This isn't the first time Casper has taken to twitter to defend his relationship with Jennifer, previously writing that he finds people's idle speculation about their love confusing.

He wrote on twitter: "I don't understand how people can speak on other people or things they know nothing of??!!! #CRAZY. Off to Morocco!!!! (sic)"

He has also been retweeting people who have defended the pair's romance, in particular comments from twitter user @Prettyboymiguel, who wrote: "I think @Caspersmart and @JLo make a really good couple but you know everyones gonna hate cuz when your happy or successful ppl have to hate.

"Why are ppl judging @Caspersmart no 1 knows how long @JLo was separated be4 she announced the divorce ppl need 2 stop being so quick 2 judge. (sic)"
