Male, born in 1952, of Han nationality, native of Shanghai Municipality.

Vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, chairman of the Central Committee of China Zhi Gong Party (China Public Interest Party) and Minister of Science and Technology.

1969-1975 Working in Sandao People's Commune of Yanji county, Jilin Province

1975-1978 Student in the Northeast Forestry University

1978-1979 Physics teacher of the Northeast Forestry University

1979-1981 Post-graduate student majoring in Experimental Mechanics at the Institute of Structure Theory of Tongji University in Shanghai, graduated with a master's degree

1981-1985 Teacher at the Photomechanics research team of Mathematics and Mechanics Department of Tongji University

1985-1991 Student at the Clausthal Technical University in Germany, graduated with a Ph. D degree in Mechanical Engineering
