Jiang Shusheng

Male, ethnic Han, born in April 1940, native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, member of China Democratic League.

Began working in August 1963, graduated from Department of Physics, majoring in Metal Physics, with a university education, supervisor of students for doctorate.

Vice-chairman of the 11th NPC Standing Committee and chairman of the China Democratic League Central Committee

1958-1963 Student majoring in Metal Physics in the Department of Physics, Nanjing University

1963-1985 Assistant, lecturer in the Department of Physics, Nanjing University (Visiting researcher at Bristol University in Britain from 1979 to 1982)

1985-1993 Lecturer, associate professor, professor in the Department of Physics, Nanjing University, deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Solid Microstructure Physics (visiting researcher at Durham University in Britain from 1986 to 1987, visiting professor at the University of Sydney, Australia from 1991 to 1992 and from March 1993 to August 1993)

1993-1996 Director of the Department of Physics, Nanjing University (visiting professor at Maspec Research Institute, Italian Academy of Sciences from 1995 to 1996)

1996-1997 Vice-president of Nanjing University

1997-2003 President of Nanjing University (honorary Ph.D at the Johns Hopkins University, the United States, in 2002 and honorary Ph.D at Bristol University, Britain, in 2003)
