China says G20 issues on agenda of Hu's France visit

BEIJING - China said here Thursday that issues related with the Group of 20 (G20) will be on the agenda of President Hu Jintao's visit to France next week.

Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying made the remarks at a press briefing on Hu's upcoming visits to France and Portugal.

At the invitation of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva, Hu will pay state visits to the two countries from November 4 to 7.

Hu's European visit will be followed by the G20 summit in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (ROK), from November 11 to 12.

France, which is scheduled to take over the G20 presidency following the Seoul summit, has made a call for financial monetary system reform, according to reports.

While addressing ambassadors in August, Sarkozy also pledged measures to monitor raw materials prices fluctuation to avoid any potential economic and financial downturn.

Fu said China attaches great importance to France's proposals on G20 related issues, and will maintain contacts with France in this regard.

Discussion on G20 related issues will also be a focus of Hu's visit to France, she said.

The G20 members - Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the ROK, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United States and the European Union - account for 90 percent of global output, 80 percent of global trade and two-thirds of the world's population.
