Chinese automakers vie for a spot in car race

HANGZHOU - Even though Chinese drivers still lagged behind their rivals abroad in the 2010 Asian car tournament which concluded on Sunday, they displayed amazing progress in skill along with the emerging Chinese car manufacturers.

It is a sign that China's car industry begins to be aware of the significance of race in showing the muscle of company, with many famous brands in China sent their own teams to the tournament.

Years ago, car race, which has long been the showcase for the car manufacturers, is still just limited to advertisement plate in China.

"It's very important because it's a great opportunity for the car manufacturers to show the cars and competing with other cars on the same level," said Patrik Sandell, champion of WRC in France.

"It's also good because you can test new things. That's in some years will be source of the road car so the rally is perfect for manufactures." explained Sandell.

Apparently, China's car manufacturers begin to agree with Patrik.

During the tournament, car Lotus L3 is the combination of design from Lotus UK and Chinese cultural element introduced by China Youth Automotive Group.

This Chinese company thinks the tournament is not only a stage for show, but also a test to the car's quality.

Car manufacturing, as the emerging industry in China, is developing rapidly. The attention car manufacturers paid to car race is a sign that Chinese car companies are not satisfied with just producing cars, they want to design good cars.
