Zhang Gaoli was reelected secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China on May 26.

The "one secretary and two deputy secretaries" model has been the main structure employed by most local committees during the current elections. The only exceptions have been the Tibet autonomous region Party Committee with four deputy secretaries, and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region Party Committee with three deputy secretaries. All thirteen provinces and autonomous regions that have completed Party committee transitions have elected at least one female member to their standing committees. [more]

The emergence of a group of 60s standing committee members

A group of young cadres born in the 1960s were elected into provincial standing committees after the most recent round of Party congress elections for 13 provinces and autonomous regions. Until now, the youngest among the elected provincial standing committee members was Yang Yue of the Standing Committee of CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, who is also secretary of the CPC Fuzhou City Committee and was born in 1968.
