A 5-year-old girl is in a critical condition after getting her scarf caught in a moving escalator.
Chen Beini was supermarket shopping with her mother in Xiaogan in North China’s Hubei province on Dec 1, when she fell on an escalator.
Her scarf became tangled in the mechanism and she was strangled until she lost consciousness.
Chen is now in a coma at Wuhan General Hospital of the PLA Guangzhou Military Region, Wuhan Evening News reported.
According to the report, staff members at the supermarket alerted the store’s fire warden, who released Chen from the machine.
After emergency treatment at a Xiaogan medical center, Chen was transferred to Hubei Space Hospital and then the Wuhan General Hospital.
