Air Products wins key contract with Samsung

Air Products, the world's leading industrial gas and functional materials supplier, has won a key contract from Samsung Electronics Co Ltd to supply complete bulk specialty gas and chemical delivery systems in support to Samsung's chip plant in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, China Daily learned on Friday.

The contract calls for the design and construction of a bulk specialty gas supply yard by Air Products equipped with the company's turnkey piping. It will connect the yard with the chip plant and distribute gas for the manufacturing process, and Air Products will also supply its state-of-the-art specialty gas delivery equipment and specialty liquid chemical delivery equipment to the chip plant.

The chip plant in the Xi'an High-tech Zone represents one of Samsung's largest overseas investments and is one of the most advanced chip plants in China. The memory products produced by the chip plant will be widely used in portable devices such as smartphones, tablet computers, digital cameras, USB drives and other consumer electronics products for which China is a major market.

"The contract reinforces Air Products' leading position both in the global electronics industry and in China by further expanding into the country's emerging western region."

Air Products has been accelerating its growth in western China. The company first entered Shaanxi province in 2006 to serve the electronics industry and has won several major contracts for its Tonnage business. The company has established a new office in the Xi'an High-tech Zone, which includes engineering and operational capabilities to support its fast business growth in China.
