Baby dies after being left home alone

A 2-month old baby died after his parents quarreled and left him alone for 29 hours, Xiaoxiang Morning News reported on Monday.

The husband surnamed Yan, 41, and the wife surnamed Li, 35, both residents of Loudi, Hunan province, quarreled in the morning of March 27 and Li then left home.

Later that afternoon, Yan also left home, leaving their 2-month-old son home alone. Yan said he returned home at about 5 pm and could not open the door with his key, and he thought Li had bolted the door in order not to let him enter, so he went away again.

However, Li said she did not return home after she left angrily. When the couple went back home at about 7 pm on March 28, they found their son dead. Doctors said the baby died of respiratory failure.

Yan was detained by police and the case is under further investigation.
