Online stores advertise 'Suarez corkscrews'

Uruguay football star Luis Suarez's suspected biting during a World Cup soccer game has inspired Chinese businessmen to design corkscrews that have become popular on Internet sites.

The range, named "Suarez Corkscrews", are described as "opening bottles nice and easy" and advertised on more than 20 online stores on Taobao, a popular shopping site. An image of the Uruguayan striker's open mouth is part of the product's advertsing.

Prices for the corkscrews range from several hundred yuan to 10,000 yuan ($1,605). Many potential customers have called the stores seeking further details.

According to a staff member surnamed Ouyang, who works for an online store promoting the corkscrew, the item has not yet gone into production.

"To make a corkscrew won't be hard, but using an image of the player may involve rights concerns," Ouyang said.

Luis Suarez faces allegations of biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on Tuesday during Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy. The striker has a record of biting opponents during his career.
