Criteria set for certification

Attractions and Cultural Institutions

Attractions and cultural institutions must meet three of the following requirements for Welcome China certification:

·Map/materials in Chinese language

·Chinese language content on website

·Accept China UnionPay/China UnionPay ATMs

·Audio tour in Chinese

·Chinese food/drink options (if applicable)

·Free Wi-Fi

·Signs in Chinese

·Chinese subtitles on videos

·Chinese social media accounts (WeChat, Sina Weibo)

·Take at least three Destination DC Welcome China seminars

·Have at least one Mandarin speaking staff member

Restaurants

Restaurants must meet three of the requirements below to be certified by Welcome China:

·Chinese language menu

·Accept China UnionPay

·Chinese language content on website

·Pictures of food on menu

·Host an exploratory trip for tourism industry insiders from China

·Take at least three Destination DC Welcome China seminars

·Have at least one Mandarin-speaking staff member

Shopping

Shopping locations must meet three of the following requirements for Welcome China certification:

·Map/materials in Chinese language

·Chinese language content on website

·Accept China UnionPay/China UnionPay ATMs

·Chinese food/drink options (if applicable)

·Free Wi-Fi

·Signs in Chinese

·Chinese social media accounts (WeChat, Sina Weibo)

·Promotion with Destination DC in China

·Host an exploratory trip for tourism industry insiders from China

·Take at least three Destination DC Welcome China seminars

·Have at least one Mandarin-speaking staff member
