TV show unites woman with son she abandoned 22 years ago

TV shows are called different names by many people. Some find them boring, some call them crass and some even consider them vulgar. But sometimes TV shows make the impossible possible.

Twenty-two years ago a deaf-mute baby was lying abandoned at a transport terminal in Harbin when it was spotted by a woman, Zhao Dan, who took him home and named him Qiu jian.

Zhao almost spent all her savings on his treatment. Her husband later divorced her and left her with their 3-year-old daughter.

Although Qiu?couldn't hear or speak, the silent world gave him a special gift: when he was 13 years old, he displayed dancing skills. To help him become a professional dancer, Zhao sold her house without any hesitation and enrolled him in a dancing school in Harbin.

"Children usually practice a dance step two or three times, but he would repeat it at least 15 times," Zhao Dan said.

"He practices all the time even during meals and sleep," she said.

Qiu's hard work paid off.

At a famous international ballroom dance competition in 2008, he walked away with the top prize. After that, he appeared on TV shows where his moves moved many.

Zhao said the major reason she took her adopted son to the TV shows was that she was trying to help Qiu find his biological parents. When Zhao first discovered baby Qiu Jian, a note was found hidden in the baby's cloth specifying his birth date and diagnosis.

As Zhao had wished, Qiu's birth mother recognized the note while watching a show. After much deliberation, she contacted the director of the show.

"I left him there because I had hoped some wealthy families who could afford his treatment would take him," said his biological mother. "I do not expect too much, I just want to fulfill my responsibility," she said.

Meanwhile, Zhao Dan said she did what she did because she wanted Qiu to get more love.
