I’m Jocelyn from China Daily. I’ve called China home for over a decade. People have often compared Suzhou to its double-sided embroidery, and these days have given me a glimpse into a truly modern side to this city. Through six years of practice and exploration, Suzhou Industrial Park has developed comprehensive services and a unique style of management as it redefines the idea of a new urban community. This Suzhou has captivated me so much that I’m looking forward to tomorrow, when I’ll meet the other half, the traditional one, of this dynamic city.
Allan Zeman, chairman of the Hong Kong-based Lan Kwai Fong Group, supports the introduction of a law banning masks at public assemblies in Hong Kong. Law and order has broken down, and the situation warrants drastic measures, he said. Such a ban will be a viable step to help Hong Kong curb escalating violence.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) held the Third Plenary Session of its Seventh Central Committee from June 6 to 9, 1950, in Beijing. The meeting mainly discussed economic issues. This was a clear indication that the CPC's focus was shifting from revolution to economic development. After the three major transformation movements, a basic socialist economic system had taken root in China in the 1950s, based on public ownership of the means of production and the principle of distribution according to work done.
