China hopes Pakistan maintains stability

China yesterday hoped that Pakistan maintains stability and prosperity.

Speaking on the prevailing situation in Pakistan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said: "Pakistan is an important neighbor of China, and we are highly concerned over the situation there."

"We believe the Pakistani government and people can handle their internal problems and hope Pakistan maintains stability and development," Liu said.
