Special Report: Sustainable development only possible through scientific cooperation

The First International Symposium on Advanced Synthesis and Processing Technology for Materials (ASPT08) has been deemed a great success, according to its organizers at the Wuhan University of Technology (WHUT), the institution charged with hosting the event.

The event, the first of its kind to take place anywhere in the world, has been seen as the launch pad for an annual series symposia set to take place at cutting edge high-tech academic institutions around the world.

The symposium was chaired by Professor Takashi Goto, leader of the Global Centers Of Excellence (COE) Program: Materials Integration International Center of Education and Research, Tohoku University, Japan.
