Lawsuit against pre-installed apps to help consumers

The problem of unwanted pre-installed applications on smartphones has been widely reported and the Shanghai Consumer Council has filed China's first public interest litigation against two mobile phone brands to protect consumers' rights. Comments:

Many of the pre-installed applications on smartphones are in fact unnecessary and cannot be uninstalled, which violates the right of consumers to choose what they buy. Shanghai's public interest litigation is expected to break this unspoken rule in the smartphone industry, promote fair competition among smartphone application developers and substantially and effectively protect consumers' rights. Should the case succeed, the types of apps that can be pre-installed on smartphones should be clearly regulated and strict punishments imposed on those who violate the regulations.
