Putin hails Xi over re-election

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated President Xi Jinping on his reelection as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on Thursday in a phone call.

Putin also congratulated the success of the 19th CPC National Congress, which concluded on Tuesday with the election of a new Central Committee. Xi was reelected as the general secretary on Wednesday at the First Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

It's very important that the congress has adopted Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Putin said, adding that the decisions of the congress have fully reflected Chinese people's trust and support toward the CPC led by Xi.
