BJ Today Art Museum goes interdimensional

"I'm a sculpture artist, so usually I use traditional materials like metal, stone, and this steel ball behind me. Although it's mechanized, still it's made from concrete physical materials. But media art in the future is going digital and is embracing the internet. This is what this Future Gallery's trying to explore," another artist Sui Jianguo said.

The exhibition embraces the technology of the RealSense 3D camera to merge reality and virtuality.

"The digital demonstration allows viewers to see art pieces from all angles, and has thus created a new art form. This is the significance of the Future Gallery. All the pieces stored in the cloud can be shared easily and be checked again and again," said Su Lei, the curator.

This part of the exhibition adopts a gloomy tone, with every wall painted black, but there's an enlightening message.

"The future is approaching. It's like we are now experiencing the darkness before the dawn. We are now experiencing fast changes, and the reform is yet to come," Su Lei said.

The exhibition runs to September the 12th at the Today Art Museum - a joint concept of director Gao Peng, sculpture artist Sui Jianguo, and architect Wang Hui.

According to their vision, 'Future of Today' is not a mere installation; it is a journey into whole new vistas, whole new dimensions of artistic exploration.
