Germany's Volkswagen Group, the top-selling carmaker in China, is presenting its electric drive designs and technologies at the 25th World Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS25).

China's demand for aluminum will continue to grow, but it will likely be more in balance with the rest of the world, Alcoa Inc, the largest US aluminum producer, forecast. 

Forbes magazine has named President Hu Jintao as the world's most powerful person, a move that analysts say shows global acknowledgement of China's contribution to the world's economic recovery.

Climate change will trigger a drop in China's grain harvest over the next few decades and threaten food security, Tang Huajun, deputy dean of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, warns. He also said a 5 to 10 percent crop loss is foreseeable by 2030 if climate change continues.

Some researchers question whether China's cities are growing too fast.
