Chinese company receives print awards in US

CHICAGO: Artron, a Chinese printing enterprise, received two Best of Category Awards of the "2009 Premier Print Awards" announced in Chicago Sunday night.

Competing with 4,000 entries from all over the world, Artron was awarded for their Official Program of the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games, recognized as the best in the Invitations category.

It was also awarded for the "Beyond the Trail collections" in the Art Books category. This is the 8th award in six years the company has received from the Premier Print Awards.

"We feel very proud," said Jianping Pan, president and CEO of Artron. "As we are from China, the country with the oldest history of printing, we feel obligated to promote the Chinese culture with the best printing technology," he told Xinhua at the award-giving ceremony.

The Shenzhen-based company is the first Chinese company that has been recognized in this world-class print awards.

"They (Artron) did a fantastic job," said Michael Makin, president of the Printing Industries of America, host of the Premier Print Awards. "The judging process is very strict, and the winning piece must be flawless."

Makin said he is glad to see more and more Chinese companies are standing out and being awarded.

The Premier Print Awards is the largest and oldest competition in the printing industry world-wide. Annually since the 1950s, the award has been recognizing organizations and individuals who show excellence, a commitment to quality, and outstanding achievement in print media internationally.
