Official sacked for faking resume

The director of a housing and development bureau in Hejin city, Shanxi province, was removed from his post last Friday for forging his education background and modifying his date of birth 11 times, according to the local authority.

Xue Xinmin, 44, was Party secretary of Senglou township and appointed as director of the Hejin city's housing and urban-rural development bureau in February.

Earlier media reported Xue was "promoted" to the bureau head position despite the fact he had been given a disciplinary warning for forging his resume.

Following the media report, local authorities began reviewing Xue's case on May 23 and announced his removal on June 8.

Records of Xue's date of birth differ, local Party disciplinary authorities found.

He started working after finishing at a middle school. He then allegedly received a diploma from Xi'an University of Finance and Economics and a bachelor degree from Xi'an International Commercial College.

Investigation found the diploma was faked and the degree was not recognized by the national education system.

The Hejin Party committee noted the fabrication in December 2010 and handed out disciplinary warnings to Xue along with four others from the local organization department and public security bureau.

Similarly, a vice-director of Fugu county justice bureau in Shaanxi province, Liu Lirong, was removed from his job for forging his resume.

The Regulation on the Punishment of Civil Servants of Administrative Organs passed in 2007 says that acts of fabricating, misleading and cheating leaders and the public should get warned or expelled from jobs and the Party in serious cases.
