On August 13, 1937, the Japanese army attacked Shanghai in what is known as the August 13 Incident. The national government mobilized more than 70 divisions to fight in the Battle of Shanghai, which lasted three months. Over 40,000 Japanese troops were killed or wounded. From August 22 to 25, 1937 the CPC Central Committee held an enlarged meeting of its Political Bureau in Luochuan, known as the Luochuan Meeting. The picture shows the Luochuan Meeting memorial hall. [Photo/youth.cn]
