New mum Gwyneth Paltrow has been spotted out and about in the leafy residential streets of New York toting her baby daughter Apple.

The Oscar-winning actress and her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, were "900 miles over the moon" when Apple was born on May 14. And that same joy was clear on Gwyneth's face as she tenderly carried her daughter during their walk together.

The New York-raised screen star made no secret of the fact that she fully intends to relish her new role and not let any others get in the way of it. Like her own mother, actress Blythe Danner, Gwyneth has cleared the decks workwise and is concentrating on being a great mum to her baby.

The Apple of daddy's eye

Coldplay front man Chris Martin is so taken with his baby daughter that he recorded an answer-phone message on his mobile - of her gurgling.

According to the Daily Mirror, instead of hearing Chris voice callers could hear baby Apple cooing and murmuring.

An insider said: He was so bowled over with his daughter he wanted the world to know.

He waited for ages so he could get the perfect little gurgle and she sounded so cute.

But Chris, 27, was made to dump the message after jetting off to the US this weekend to work on new material with the other band members.

He and wife Gwyneth Paltrow, 31, became parents a month ago.

The insider added: He is completely in love with Apple.
