Outlaw sends NBA's Japanese guard to injured list

An Outlaw has sent Japan's first National Basketball Association player to the bench for the next five games.

Phoenix guard Yuta Tabuse was sent onto the injury list here Monday with a strained right quadricep muscle, giving the Suns room on the roster for forward Bo Outlaw, a free agent who signed a one-year contract with the club on Monday.

That means Tabuse will miss road games the next two days at Chicago and Cleveland, a Saturday home matchup with Sacramento and games next week at Dallas and New Orleans.

Tabuse, 24, would be able to return November 19 for a home game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

In his NBA debut last week, Tabuse scored seven points in 10 minutes during Phoenix's 112-82 rout of Atlanta. He had no points in three minutes of a 112-80 victory Sunday at New Jersey.

Tabuse's biggest impact has been off the court. His jersey, number one, is among the top-selling jerseys in the NBA and views of his website player page numbered 40,000 on November 1, a pre-season NBA record for a single day.

The Suns, 3-0, are off to their best start in 20 years. Outlaw, 33, is an 11-year NBA veteran and Phoenix fan favorite who played 153 games for the Suns from 2001 through 2003, averaging 4.7 points and 4.6 rebounds a game.
