Beijing Week kicked off in the China Pavilion of the 2017 Astana Expo on June 16th.

In the opening ceremony, the China Pavilion presented some elaborate art performances with strong Beijing characteristics, including Peking Opera, acrobatics, and martial arts, giving audiences from along the Belt and Road and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road a better feel for Chinese culture.

Audiences also experienced Beijing culture and customs by watching a Beijing Tourism photo show, enjoying traditional Chinese folk music, and sampling Beijing cuisine.

In the ceremony, Wang Jinzhen, the government representative of China Pavilion, stated that Beijing Week is an effective platform from which China can demonstrate its distinctive culture to the world and carry out in-depth cooperation with Kazakhstan. Zhang Hanhui, Chinese ambassador to Kazakhstan, added that the week provides a great opportunity for more people to experience the glamour of Beijing, and Zhao Wenzhi, vice chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said that with an increasing number of collaborations between the two nations bilateral trade volume has reached $3.06 billion, indicating ample room for development in the future.

China Pavilion will also organize some conferences on energy cooperation between the two countries during the week. More than 200 people attended the opening ceremony, including governmentofficials of China and Kazakhstan, overseas Chinese representatives in Kazakhstan, and some representatives of local chambers and associations.
