Abstract:　

The role of the federal government in oil and natural gas sector in the United States lies in formulating energy strategy, defining competition rules and safeguarding sustainable development of resources. An effective planning and incentive policy and the interdepartmental division of labor and coordination in the United States has ensured the full play of the role of the federal government, providing useful enlightenment for the reform of the government administrative system for oil and natural gas sector in China.
