Abstract: By focusing on the building of beautiful villages, developing rural culture tourism and strengthening the collective economy, Yongkang City in Zhejiang Province has successfully promoted the integrated development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries, strengthened the development of collective economy, broadened the income channels for farmers, and formed a virtuous circle for the integrated development of beautiful villages with a sound economy. The experience of Yongkang City shows that the construction of beautiful villages in the new era should attach equal importance to both construction and development, boost the agglomerated development of rural industry with the cluster effect resulting from the building of beautiful villages, pay attention to the construction of long-term management and protection mechanisms, and promote the integrated development of urban and rural areas simultaneously. But it should be noted that during Yongkang City’s construction of beautiful villages and the development of a sound economy, there remain some problems, such as the divergence between the construction planning of beautiful villages and relevant program planning, the monotonous form of village planning, the indefinite work division of political and economic issues in the management and protection of rural affairs, and obvious “bottleneck” restrictions facing rural leisure and cultural tourism development. In order to address these problems, it is necessary to deepen rural reform, strengthen rural planning and shore up fund support for public services.
