Abstract: Against the backdrop of global manufacturing digital transformation and under the guidance of Made in China 2025 initiative and the strategy of building China into a strong manufacturer, China’s manufacturing industry needs to make the best use of the opportunity and realize integration with the industrial Internet, industrial big data, industrial cloud, artificial intelligence and the new-generation IT technology across the board. The production methods, organization approaches, business models, value chain layout and competition strategies need to be innovated so that China’s manufacturing industry can move up from the low end in the global manufacturing value chain, thus fulfilling the reversed curve from Smiling Curve to Musashi Curve and Digital Curve. To this end, the fundamental approach for us is to nurture a strong digital system to promote manufacturing digital transformation, realize seamless connection between the physical world and the digital virtual world, and cultivate a work team with digital concepts and technological prowess to reinforce the digital basic ability. Besides, we need to ensure the safety and competitiveness of China’s manufacturing digital eco-system.
