Right on schedule!

The organizing committee for the Tianjin portion of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup released an update Wednesday on the construction progress of the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium … and the facility is right on schedule

The stadium's 56,300 regular seats, 62 box seats, and VIP platform have been completed. The acoustics, elevators, and IT cables are currently in the testing phase. The grass field will also be near completion by August 7.

This new, first class sports center, with an exterior designed like a "water drop," meets international competition standards and will have a media workroom to accommodate 300 reporters as well as an adjacent work area. The media workroom's IT networks are currently undergoing testing, and software is expected to be installed within 15 days.

The organizing committee has made arrangements for guest reception and accommodations, transportation and meals. Women's World Cup team members, FIFA officials, members of the media, and sponsors will stay at the Sheraton Tianijn Hotel and Renaissance Tianjin Hotel.

With the goal of attract more people to the FIFA Women's World Cup competition, tickets will be sold through numerous outlets and in many cases with promotional discounts.
