Food for Beijing Olympics 'perfectly safe'

BEIJING -- China is "capable and confident" of ensuring the absolute safety of food supplied to next month's Beijing Olympic Games, an official said here on Thursday.
Tang Yunhua, a Beijing Food Safety Administration official, said the capital's food quality control department had sent inspectors to monitor the entire process of Olympic food supply, from its growth to transport, making sure nothing would go wrong.
"With less than 10 days to go (before the Games begin), we shoulder this responsibility for the perfect safety of Olympic food. We are capable and confident of it."
