Raising 'green' pigs online a hit

Netizens have overwhelmingly praised Ding Lei, an Internet businessman, for his innovation of combining pig-raising and the world wide web, says an article on the website www.china.com.cn. The following is an excerpt:

Ding Lei, the founder of Netease, told the media that he will raise "green" pigs and sell them to the market. He said he would also open all the processes of rearing the animals via the Internet, winning netizens' overwhelming support.

They predict Ding will play a key role in the food industry, giving people hope of solving food safety problems. As citizens now are afraid of contaminated foods, entrepreneurs like Ding should assuage their fears by vowing to supply the market with quality products. And only by offering safe foods can entrepreneurs take the lead in the market.

Ding is also believed to be blazing a trail in industrial readjustment. He is innovative in combining two utterly different industries - pig-raising and the Internet.

In addition, Ding probably will inspire the jobless to follow his road of starting up new businesses. Business start-ups are a fundamental way of solving unemployment. Ding has pointed out a new direction.
