China and the US should construct new model of relations

Developing Sino-US relations is a task that will benefit mankind, says an article in People’s Daily (excerpts below).

President Xi Jinping stressed in his meeting with the visiting US Secretary of State John Kerry on April 13 that China and the United States should explore ways to build a new model of relations.

China is the largest developing country and the fastest growing emerging power. The US is the largest developed country and the strongest power. If China and the US can cooperate, the world will benefit. If the two countries choose confrontation, the world will suffer.

Both countries should solve any conflicts and disputes through dialogue.

If the two can learn from each other, they will make important contributions to global security and prosperity.
