Let's pursue independent diplomacy and realize the great dream

An independent foreign policy directed toward peace exercised by the country, is also adhering to Mao Zedong Thought's fundamental line of independence. We should hold aloft the banner of peace, development, cooperation and win-win outcomes for all, promote exchange and cooperation with other countries, defend world peace and promote common development based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and on the basis of equality and mutual benefits.

China must decide its stance and policies on all international issues according to right or wrong, stand firm for fairness and justice and respect the rights of the people of other countries to independently decide their development paths. We shall never impose our will on other people nor shall we tolerate others imposing their will on us.

China advocates solving international disputes through peaceful means and opposes any form of hegemony and power politics. We don't seek hegemony or engage in military expansion now or in the future. We are determined to defend our sovereignty, security and development interests. No foreign country should expect China to trade its core interests or accept any attempt to jeopardize its sovereignty, security and development interests.

Making greater contributions to humankind

The Chinese nation has had a dream - to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and make greater contributions to humankind.

The realization of the dream entails steadfast efforts for reform and opening-up. China would not be the emerging power it is today and would not have been looking at a promising future without reform and opening-up.

The Third Plenum of the 18th CPC Central Committee has given the call for comprehensively deepening reform. We should constantly deepen our understanding of the laws governing reform and opening-up, boldly confront the challenges ahead and resolutely get rid of all the systematic drawbacks, to brighten the prospect for socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Mao Zedong had a vision that the Chinese nation, with its high aspirations and capability, will eventually catch up with and overtake the advanced world in terms of development. To realize that goal, we should, as Mao said, proceed without haste even when clouds scud across the sky, and not rest until our aim is attained. Let our people of all ethnicities unite, be resolute, fear no sacrifice and overcome every difficulty in the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics to realize the rejuvenation of the nation.
