Danba county has a mixed charm of grandiosity and tranquility. Some 400 kilometers from Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, and situated in eastern Tibet Prefecture, Danba is known for its raw and sedate natural scenery. The county sits by the bank of the Dadu River, which cuts the surrounding high-rise mountain ranges into deep gorges.
In addition to its primitive landscape, Danba is the cradle of ethnic culture and Tibetan traditions, among which are intricate costumes, archery and horse racing. Danba is also nicknamed the "valley of beauty" for its many attractive young and virtuous women.
How to get there
Tourists can take buses from Chazidian Bus Station in Chengdu to Danba or take a train from the city's North Train Station. Tickets cost about 100 yuan each.
